In recent years, stone mosaics have become widely used in the decoration industry, primarily for floors and walls, creating a visually appealing effect.
The production principle of stone mosaics involves using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) software to convert designed patterns into NC programs. These NC programs are then transmitted to a CNC waterjet cutting machine, which cuts various materials into different patterns. Finally, the individual stone pattern components are manually assembled and glued together, and then polished sequentially with water-grinding pads. Water-grinding pads are available for marble and granite, and the appropriate pads are used depending on the material. During construction, the following points should be noted:
1. Before laying the stone mosaic, the mosaic surface should be placed vertically against a wall with the surface facing outwards. Foam should be placed at the four corners to prevent damage to sharp corners. Heavy objects should never be placed on the surface.
2. High-adhesion cement or stone/tile adhesive should be used during installation.
3. The substrate should be free of loose materials and oil stains, and the surface should be firm, flat, and clean.
4. If the substrate is uneven, it should be leveled with cement first, allowing for the thickness of the entire mosaic piece. The adhesive thickness should be 3-5 mm. Direct installation on an uneven substrate is strictly prohibited.
5. When installing a complete mosaic piece, wet installation is required. If the surrounding stone is dry-installed, the mosaic size (height) of the substrate must be adjusted first.
6. Use a notched putty slab to adjust the thickness before installation, ensuring flatness and no hollow spots.
7. The entire mosaic piece can be installed simultaneously with the surrounding stone or tiles to ensure flatness.
8. When fine-tuning the flatness, gently tap the center a few times with a rubber mallet first, then make adjustments at the edges. Do not strike forcefully!
